After realizing how complex and (at times) frustrating  natural hair could be, I went to my mom for aid and learned a bit about how to care for my precious locks. However, I also realized how lucky I am to have a parent with a little bit of knowledge about hair.For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project I wanted to incorporate my hair journey into the community. To help parents, fostering or not, learn about taking care of their child's natural hair, I partnered with SC4Kids Salon and Chelsy Alexander of Foster Community Austin to create a workshop where people can learn about their child's hair with hands on help.
